🎃 Trick-or-treat!

Get ready for a sweet surprise that won’t give you cavities—it's a spooky Halloween coloring page!

This Red semester, our Let's Play Music students are conjuring up songs about witches, black cats, and misc`hievous goblins in "Halloween is Coming." To help them remember those tricky lyrics, Here's a fun coloring page packed with those sneaky ghouls! They might try to frighten you, but don’t worry, they won’t succeed!

Extend Your Vocal Range

This treat has a trick: we get students to work on their vocals with ghostly swoops and windy howls!

In this song, practice shaping your mouth, jaw, and throat to create better tones and reach higher notes. Try yawning to feel the back of your throat and jaw position, then hold that shape while singing "oo-oo-oo" to the melody. This exercise enhances voice control and pitch-matching.

Many young singers start out sounding monotone when singing scales. These swooping howls will help them expand their vocal range!

Trick-or-Treat!

Planning to go out trick-or-treating? Get ready to sing "trick-or-treat" using sol-sol-mi! Try playing it on your bells! This minor 3rd interval is the first one young musicians can identify and replicate, making it a great start for ear training.

Now that you're a music student, challenge yourself with these trickier melodies. Use your bells or piano to listen first, then try singing "trick-or-treat" with these pitches:

  • SOL-MI-SOL

  • MI-RE-DO

  • SOL-SOL-DO

  • SOL-LA-TI-DO (Tri-ick or treat!)

  • SOL-FA-MI-RE-DO (Tri-ick o-or treat!)

  • SOL-MI-DO

Read and Compose at Home

All Let's Play Music students can boost their sight-reading skills with bells or piano!

Get creative: create a major scale, compose a spooky melody for bells, or quiz each other on steps, skips, and intervals. You can even challenge each other to come up with Halloween-themed songs!

This is a great way to reinforce what you’ve learned in class while having fun together.

Enjoy your musical adventures and have a safe and happy Halloween!
